It was brilliant to see Evan Ferguson get off the mark for Ireland during the March international window.

While a number of young players have been highly thought of as they came through in recent seasons, none could match the excitement levels around the Brighton forward. It's not difficult to see why, with the youngster already looking at home at both Premier League and international level.

It is not only Ireland fans that are hugely intrigued by what Ferguson might turn into.

The 18-year old possesses all of the qualities you would want to see in a modern striker. His physical qualities mean that he does not struggle in first team football in the same manner of some those in his age group, with his awareness and mentality also well surpassing what you would expect to see in a teenager.

In short, he has everything needed to go right to the top.

You can be certain that top clubs around Europe will have sat up and taken notice of Evan Ferguson in recent months.

Liverpool and Manchester United were courting him all the way back towards his time at St Kevin's, while Chelsea and Spurs are also said to be interested. The same can apparently be said of clubs a bit further afield.

Speaking on Talking Transfers podcast, journalist Graeme Bailey said that both Bayern Munich and Barcelona are keeping a close eye on his progress.

He won’t be going this summer, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are amongst the teams watching him. He’s one of the best young strikers in Europe at the moment.

He’s happy at Brighton, this is a guy who has been known about since his time in Ireland. He’s a real class act. He’s a strapping guy at 18 and he has a lot more to his game at 18.

In two years’ time we could be talking about one of the most in-demand forwards in Europe.

All the clubs are looking at him, Man United and Liverpool, to their credit, they knew about him before he went to Brighton and he went there with his international colleague Andy Moran who is another one to watch.

Brighton is the perfect club for Evan Ferguson to develop at, so it seems highly unlikely that he will be on the market anytime soon. However, Europe's richest clubs are sure to come knocking in the future if he continues along his current trajectory.

Some Premier League scouts already believe that he could become a £100million player in the next few seasons, such is the esteem he is currently being held in.

It is certainly an exciting prospect to have a player of that value in the Ireland setup.
