An important 1-0 victory for West Bromwich Albion will be all the more sweet to James McClean this evening, after every touch in his 57 minutes on the pitch was booed by the Everton fans in the type of behaviour that the Derry man has come to expect from most grounds he plays in all over England.
It was after his substitution that McClean was spotted giving a bit of stick back to the Everton fans who were allegedly making gestures at the Ireland international as he left the pitch.

In his post-match press conference, WBA boss Tony Pulis was asked directly about the incident, and claimed that he will speak to McClean if what he had heard was true:
Whether that is true, there are other things going on with the crowd. If James has got involved, I will speak to him.
This is a fantastic football club (Everton). I like the city and the intensity and the passion of its supporters.
It's clear that some of the fans of Premier League clubs will continue to boo James McClean for his stance on wearing the poppy, despite the former Sunderland winger giving explaining his reasons for not doing so, and we would imagine that the vast majority of the time he would not be bothered one bit, but clearly those Everton fans got under his skin today.
When the final whistle blew he celebrated the win with the West Brom fans on twitter:
Great 3 points, enjoy your weekend baggies fans ?? #boingboing

The final match stats showing just how much of a smash and grab that result was:
A good day for McClean, and a great day for Irish players all-around as Robbie Brady and Wes Hoolahan bagged goals for Nowich, Jon Walters claimed as assist for Stoke, and Shane Long hit the winner for Southampton.
