Life is pretty sweet for Tim Sherwood right now. The former Blackburn Rovers captain has sailed into the previously flagging Aston Villa and has utterly erased the paint drying dullness of Paul Lambert's reign and has installed a vibrant young team who seem safe from relegation and have an FA Cup Final appearance in their back pocket.
At the heart of this renaissance is Belgian international Christian Benteke. The striker couldn't buy a goal under Paul Lambert but by virtue of Tim's positive thinking and the classic 'arm around the shoulder' management - he now cannot stop scoring, plundering 7 goals in his last 5 league games and walking off with the Premier League player of the month award for April.
Time for mature reflection and cautious optimism about this stunning turnaround then? Not quite. At his weekly press conference, when asked about Benteke's form, Sherwood claimed his man is the best striker in Europe. Yes, really:
"I don't know if there's a better striker in Europe right now. He's the best"
Sherwood went on to say that no club could afford Benteke - a statement that no one will remember when he swans off for 20m in July. Perhaps Tim is just keeping his striker's confidence up and perhaps he's playing a game regarding his value but either way, it appears wildly optimistic statements and Tim Shwerwood are here to stay.
And to be honest; that's great.
