Tim Howard has been given a three-game MLS ban for two incidents involving fans during Colorado Rapids' 3-1 loss to Sporting Kansas on Monday.
The 38-year-old Rapids goalkeeper received the suspension, according to MLS for 'foul language directed toward a fan during the Rapids' match against Sporting Kansas City and for an altercation with a fan following the game.'
ESPN report that Howard grabbed an opposition fan by the arm as players were leaving the pitch.
MLS did not specify the 'foul language'. However, one fan's video shows Howard telling him that he 'fucked his mother'.
The fans certainly appeared to bait Howard before he responded.

In a statement, Colorado Rapids called the incidents 'unfortunate and regrettable'.
Tim Howard made an unfortunate and regrettable mistake for which he is being disciplined by MLS. While this is out of character for Tim, we do not condone these actions.
We accept the league’s decision and look forward to moving past this. The incidents that took place during our match at Sporting Kansas City last weekend do not represent the Colorado Rapids Soccer Club or Tim’s character and beliefs, on and off the pitch.
