While he is clearly a big talent, Tom Cannon has had somewhat of a strange career over the last couple of seasons.
His first taste of real senior football came on loan at Preston North End, joining from Everton in January of 2023. He put in some brilliant performances during his spell at Deepdale, scoring eight goals in the Championship.
That form was enough to draw the interest of Leicester City, who paid around £8million to sign him last summer. However, he would go on to make just 13 league appearances last as the club secured promotion to the Premier League. Much of that was down to injury, although the striker would largely be limited to substitute appearances when he was fit.
Of course, all of this took place as doubts emerged about his international future.
Merseyside native Cannon had represented Ireland at youth level, although his form at Preston resulted in the England U21s getting in touch about switching nationalities. The forward took some time to make a decision, before declaring for the Boys in Green and making his international debut in June.
Now, he needs to sort out his future at club level.

Three Clubs Set To Battle It Out For Loan Signing Of Ireland Striker
Considering Tom Cannon's relative lack of playing time last season, it was always going to be interesting to see how Leicester City handled him this summer.
It seems as though a loan move could suit all parties, with some interested clubs now emerging.
Journalist Alan Nixon has reported that Sheffield United, West Brom, and Stoke City are all keen to sign Tom Cannon on loan this summer. All three of those clubs will be hoping to make a promotion push in the Championship next season.
It remains to be seen how Leicester plan on using Cannon during the upcoming campaign, although a loan move would make a lot of sense if he is unlikely to get much playing time in the Premier League.
The striker will be hoping to add to his one Ireland cap over the coming months, starting with the UEFA Nations League fixture against England in September.
