David Luiz has come in for quite a bit of criticism for his part in the calamitous performance which saw Brazil crash out of the World Cup at the hands of Germany. Some of that criticism has been fair, some of it over the top and some of it just funny.
But for all that, it must be said that one performance shouldn't be enough to wipe out some of the positive feelings which Brazil fans have/had for Luiz.
Some might say that's a bit of a naive view and perhaps it is, but what's wrong with that now and again? Step forward nine year old Ana Luz Penna Reale to show us jaded old folk that a bit of naivety can be a good thing.
Ana Luz sent this letter to Luiz during the past week, the PSG defender then posted the letter to his Instagram account. The translation according to Yahoo is as follows;
Hi David Luiz,
My name is Ana Luz. I saw all of the Brazil games in the World Cup and I liked it a lot watching you play.
I think that you don't need to be sad because you played well and did the best you could. You were a great captain.
Life is like this, sometimes people lose and sometimes people win but people only need to be happy.
David Luiz, you are my champion.
Ana Luz Penna Reale.
Luiz, whose social media accounts have been uncharacteristically quiet in recent days, also added a short note;
Many thanks princess Ana Luz, loved your letter! And thanks to all Brazilians for all the support! I'll never give up my dreams, and I will always strive to give back all that love I receive! God bless you all.
Quickly forgetting about all that 'naivety is good' business, can anyone else imagine David Luiz writing this himself to get back in the country's good books?
