Theirry Henry has revealed to he was left in tears over his move from Arsenal to Barcelona. While many would presume they were cheers of joy for leaving an underperforming club for one of the world's best, they would be mistaken.
I never considered leaving Arsenal. But I was 29 years old and in form, I thought all the guys left and I did not know if Arsene would be staying.
It was not easy and when I left I cried. I'm not ashamed to say it. I'm a competitor and I had to leave.
Bergkamp and Pires had left the season before while Ljunberg left during the same window as Henry. The club have won just one major trophy in the mean time so Henry's foresight of a struggling club would prove correct. He also revealed he was far down the Barcelona pecking order when he joined.
When I arrived at Barcelona, Guardiola told me that I was the fourth-choice striker and I would not be starter,
I accepted the challenge and I fought, and competition makes you increase your level. People talk about luck, but you need to create you own. When you work, you got the reward at the end.
