Thierry Henry has continued to steal the limelight during the BBC’s World Cup coverage. The suave Frenchman has been a shining star in a somewhat lacklustre punditry line-up, setting himself apart from his colleagues with his sharp wit, and smooth one-liners. His role is made that little bit easier by the fact that he shares studio time with intellectual heavyweights such as Robbie Savage and Tony Pulis.
In his latest punditry escapade, the Arsenal legend showed that some rivalries are for life. During the BBC’s World Cup coverage last night, the former French international straight up refused to wish a Spurs fan ‘good luck’ on getting married.
When asked by Gary Lineker if he would give the Tottenham supporter some kind words on his big day, Henry responded, “I can’t do it personally.”
Seven years after leaving the Gunners, Henry is still irking Spurs fans and as a result winning over the hearts of the Arsenal supporters.
Perhaps a few more moments of hilarity during this World Cup will be enough for Henry to atone for his infamous sin against Ireland five years ago. He may need a moment of Dunphy-like proportions to be forgiven by the Irish public though.
