Athletico Madrid defeated Real 1-0 at the Bernabeu last night thanks to a Diego Costa goal and a brilliant, committed performance. As stoppage time was ebbing away, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was doing the standard goalkeeper thing of wasting time when he was chased down by Gareth Bale. The Welshman managed to get a foot on the ball before Courtois could properly get his hands on it and Bale thought he had won a corner for his team.
