They're Calling Him The Taller, Skinnier, Guitarless, Ginger Andy Reid

I don't know what James McCarthy's beef with Trap is, but having read some thorough reporting on the affair, it seems McCarthy has intentionally crossed his manager here. If Andy Reid was hung out to dry for playing the 'Foggy Dew' after a few pints, how is Trap going to respond to McCarthy's flagrant no-show? And just like Reid became the savior of Irish football in his absence, expect the canonization of McCarthy to begin right after he's not called up for Macedonia in two weeks. Only problem, McCarthy could actually be the savior of Irish football.

All of this bodes badly for Trap as he tries to make his case for a new contract that would see him manage Ireland through the World Cup qualifiers. While I sympathise that player power is too string, it's clear that some players don't respect him. If the FAI want to embark on another qualifying campaign full of empty seats with its best players in limbo, well it's their money. I doubt supporters will stand for it.
