Greenock Morton boss Kenny Shiels has imposed a ban on himself from doing match day interviews on the advice from his doctor.
The 57-year-old Northern Irishman was sacked by his previous employers, Kilmarnock, following a string of outspoken comments which earned him a four-game touchline ban.
He refused to to talk to the media in his first month at Morton, later revealing why he handed over post-match media duties to his assistant David Hopkins.
‘I have spoken with the doctor and you get emotionally imbalanced,
‘It’s important I don’t compromise my position as manager of Morton Football Club.'
Shiels, whose side lie bottom of the Scottish Championship, told the Metro, ‘There’s a name for it – you can’t help it. If someone asks you a question, you’re emotionally imbalanced at that time and you feel an urge to tell the truth.'
On that basis the condition must be rampant around the Premier League, with one manager in particular in need of a cure.
