It looks like Sergio Ramos will not be signing for Man United after Real Madrid named him club captain for their pre-season tour.
Ramos had reportedly been refusing to sign a new contract with the club but it would seem Rafa Benitez is confident he'll stay, unless the decision is a calculated gamble to try convince the defender that his future lies in Spain.
Real will face Roma in Melbourne this Saturday and Manchester City next week.
While it seems unclear as to whether Ramos is the new permanent captain, if he does decide to stay at the club then he would be the obvious choice to replace Iker Casillas.
Of course, the rumour mill has gone back into overdrive now, with United now reportedly lining up Nicolas Otamendi instead. That was quick.
