News broke earlier today that confirmed what many had already expected, Jordan Henderson will replace Steven Gerrard as the captain of Liverpool Football Club.
Jordan Henderson expected to be confirmed as Liverpool's new captain on Friday. Will take armband on permanent basis from Steven Gerrard.

Henderson has gone from strength to strength after an initially shaky start following his arrival from Sunderland, and has emerged as one of Liverpool's most important players. He captained the side on numerous occasions in the absence of Gerrard last season, so many believed the official announcement to be a formality.
But not everyone was thrilled about it. Some Liverpool fans voiced their unhappiness at the decision, which is surprising considering there are no other real stand out candidates for the role.
@JamesPearceEcho Very unsure about this decision. With rise of Can, need for DM & arrival of Milner, does Hendo rate an automatic selection?

@JamesPearceEcho oh,nooo... Why not Skrtel?

@JamesPearceEcho let's hope he's the right choice, but I am not convinced. Skrtel is my man❤️

I like the precedent Henderson being captain sets: from the brink of an exit to captaincy through sheer work ethic and commitment

I'm alright right with Henderson becoming captain. Saw it when he got in Costa's face last season. #lfc

In depressing news, Henderson to be confirmed as LFC Captain on friday. He aint no leader.Mediocrity has officially set in, sadly.

An absolute joke that Henderson is #LFC captain. Doesn't look or act like a leader to me. Very disappointed.

No better candidate for the #LFC captaincy than Jordan Henderson. Big future at the club. Just needs to improve his big-game performances.
