The Deeply Embarrassed Twitter Reaction To Raheem Sterling Being Booed By Irish Fans

There was a fair amount of weariness and bemusement at the spectacle of Raheem Sterling being booed by Irish supporters, presumably on the grounds that he wishes to leave Liverpool Football Club this summer.

He joins Georgia's Shota Arveladze and Denmark's Peter Madsen in being booed relentlessly by the Irish crowd. Shota was booed for the crime of plying his trade with Rangers Football Club while Madsen was booed because the Lansdowne Road PA announcer mistook him for someone who plied his trade with Rangers Football Club.

The reaction to this online has been one of extreme mortification.

As a result of the booing, we now believe that any violence that occurs today will likely spring from diehard League of Ireland heads attacking other Ireland fans.

Raheem himself probably doesn't know what to think.

'What did I ever do to the Irish?'
