Chelsea losing is becoming somewhat routine in the Premier League this season: tonight's 2-1 defeat to Leicester City was their ninth of the season.
In contrast, Jose Mourinho's post-game interviews to these defeats are anything but routine. Tonight he seemed to abnegate responsibility for Chelsea's miserable form, and pinned it squarely on his players.
Mourinho believes that his players are betraying his work on the training ground, and was careful with his pronouns when claiming that "all last season I did phenomenal work and I brought them to a level more than they really are. This season we are doing so bad".
Here is some of the twitter reaction to an astonishing interview:
Jose is KILLING his players here.

Mourinho is turning on his own players. "I feel like my work was betrayed," is some statement, for any manager. — Daniel Taylor (@DTguardian) December 14, 2015
Even by Mourinho standards, that was a remarkable verbal slaughtering of his own players. Astonishing

The best part about watching a Jose Mourinho side implode is watching Jose Mourinho as a Jose Mourinho side implodes. — NTX (@NTXabi) December 14, 2015
Listening to Mourinho after tonight's loss at Leicester seemed he was saying: I was brilliant last season, the players are crap this season.

Shortly after proposing that he took them to last season's heights, Mourinho says his players must put their feet on the ground & be humble — Oliver Kay (@OliverKayTimes) December 14, 2015
Mourinho continues to alienate players in post-match interviews following a defeat. Players resent this and down tools.....

There is nowhere for Jose Mourinho to go after he accused his players of betraying him....his exit can only be a matter of time now #CFC

Mourinho claims Leicester's ball boys were "a disgrace to the Premier League" (!!) but he doesn't want this to overshadow Leicester win (!!)

Mourinho is basically saying he's lost the dressing room. Admitting he's lost the dressing room. The quotes are extraordinary.

Mourinho gives different yet equally explosive quotes to TV, Radio and Print. Put them together and it's hard to see how he stays.
