Forgive me. At the beginning of the game I thought this would be a good idea. Unfortunately the sports stars of the world haven't had a lot to go on. Given there's been zero shots on target.

Poor auld Ronnie Whelan's even had to resort to using emojis.

Literally the first memorable thing to happen in the game was the half-time whistle

Thankfully, just a few minutes after the restart, the game got its first goal thanks to Daley Blind. Queue much rejoicing.

Then Daley Blind turned hero again when he blocked a shot on the line.

Will we ever get a tweet longer than one word again? Who knows...

Oh wait, here's one.

An Ander Herrera penalty was nicely dispatched after Joe Gomez had fouled him. Game over.

But Rio was a bit more realistic.

Low and behold Christian Benteke went and scored a goal of the season contender and Anthony Martial bagged one on his debut. Excitement everywhere.
