It's not just the Premier League that's off this weekend: all football in Britain at every level from U12s to Sunday League is on hold as a country mourns its monarch.
Despite the chance for a rare mid season break, two clubs in Sheffield have gone viral over a Twitter thread as a football match seemed to break out around them, despite their best efforts.

Sheffield International FC were due to take on Byron House in a league fixture this morning in Division 3 of the Sheffield & District Fair Play League. They released a comedic thread on Twitter documenting how a football seemed to accidentally take place despite the 10 day period of mourning..
The Queen won't stop Sheffield International from playin
It started with this tweet yesterday afternoon.
Because the queen died, we will not be playing our league game against Byron House tomorrow morning at 10.30am.
We will instead be aiming to play a friendly tomorrow morning, against Byron House, kick-off 10.30am.

With this original tweeting getting over 30,000 likes, their plan was short lived, leading to this reply from their admin.
Update, someone’s snitched on us so now even the friendly is off.
So instead we’re having a training session tomorrow morning, at 10.30am.
If that gets cancelled we’ll have a game of rugby seeing as that’s deemed respectful enough

Their final tweet of Friday evening came with an invite for their opponents and a subtle dig at the country postponing events due to the Queen's passing.
Byron House more than welcome to come along, just remember to maintain social distancing at all times to ensure… wait a minute we’re not in a pandemic any more are we?

Their "training match" took an unexpected turn during the game, with tensions rising and a surprise position change occurring.
Think we’re the only club in the world that have two lads scrapping halfway through a ‘training session’ and trial a keeper who ends up as our main striker.
Steady morning.

The team wasted no time in getting to their local pub afterwards, ending a fantastic thread of tweets.
Our leading goal scorer Adam Megson would like to thank everyone for their support this weekend.

The Sunday League side definitely made the most of their Twitter fame with tens of thousands of likes coming their way. Sheffield International also made sure that they weren't going to miss out on a weekend with no football, which they completed successfully.
