On Saturday night, the Lotto jackpot will be pushing €14 million and we'll all be dreaming about what we could do with the money. Quitting your job is a given. Let's be honest, you could say that you wouldn't let it change you but you're hardly going to go back to the daily grind when you have millions sitting in a bank account.
But just because you can quit your job, that doesn't mean live is all fine and dandy. What do you do with yourself, how do you spend your time? We can't answer that of course and it's unlikely we'll ever have to but if it were to fall on our shoulders we'd play a real life game of fantasy football.
Like an episode of Sky One's football/drama extravaganza that was Dream Team, we've decided to award ourselves that €14 million and see if we could build a squad of current Premier League players, based on actual transfer fees, that would challenge for the title.
To make it borderline realistic, we've set ourselves some conditions. The player has to be playing in the Premier League at the moment and they need to have been signed for their current club having already played a senior game elsewhere. Other than that it's simply a matter of turning them into a cohesive team.
Joe Hart - Shrewsbury to Man City - £600,000
Seamus Coleman - Sligo to Everton - £60,000
Jose Fonté - Crystal Palace to Southampton - £1.2 million
John Stones - Barnsley to Everton - £3 million
Danny Rose - Leeds to Spurs - £1 million
Jordan Ibe - Wycombe to Liverpool - £600,000
Harry Arter - Woking to Bournemouth - £4,000
Glenn Whelan - Sheffield Wednesday to Stoke - £500,000
Riyad Mahrez - Le Havre to Leicester - £400,000
Jamie Vardy - Fleetwood to Leicester - £1 million
Ayoze Perez - Tenerife to Newcastle - £1.5 million
In GBP that adds up to £9,864,000 which, using current exchange rates equates to the princely sum of €13,068,170.11. Bargain.
It might take a couple of years but we're fairly sure that given time, our lotto winnings on Saturday could end up turning into a Premier League winning squad.
If you feel you can do better than this then send us your team via Twitter or Facebook and we'll update the post to reflect any worthy challenge to our #LottoXI.
