146 goals scored in just two matches has caused outrage from officials in the Nigerian Football Federation who suspect there might something just a little suspicious about the sudden outbreak of basketball scores in the sixth division of their domestic football. The intimidatingly named Police Machine went into the final round of matches of the group stages level on the points with the Plateau United Feeders with just two goals separating the sides on goal difference.
The Machine surely thought the job was done after hammering Babayaro FC 67 nil but incredibly they were outdone by the Feeders, who put just the 79 past Akurba F.C..
Nigeria Football Federation chief Mohammed Sanusi called the set of results “a disgrace" and "totally unacceptable".
and both teams now face expulsion from Nigerian football after league organisers in the northern state of Bauchi voided the results. All the match officials from the two games have also been suspended pending further disciplinary action.
