With rumours rife that Rafael Da Silva has been told by Louis van Gaal that he doesn't have a future at Old Trafford, and Antonio Valencia not having beaten a man for pace since 2010, it's likely that Manchester United will delve into the transfer market for a new right back this summer.
Southampton's Nathaniel Clyne has long been touted as a United target, with the 24 year old's impressive performances this season seeing him break into Roy Hodgson's England squad last October.
It might be a bit early to call it a transfer saga, but this morning saw a very interesting development regarding Clyne's future.
According to the Daily Star, a source close to Clyne has said:
The player has made it known that United are his first choice.
The deal is not done yet but it is a clear indication of his thinking.
The Star also understands that Clyne will inform Ronald Koeman of his intention to join United shortly.
It certainly seems that the wheels are in motion for the Saints starlet to join his former team mate Luke Shaw at Old Trafford next season.
The next Gary Neville?
