Depending on where you look in this morning's papers - either Man United chief executive Ed Woodward has decided not to sack Louis Van Gaal mid-season, or he's already made contact with a potential candidate.
It's that time of year where no real news will come until there's official confirmation - but that doesn't means that there aren't significant developments happening around the future of Louis Van Gaal. The Guardian is reporting the senior and influential figures in the Man United dressing room are unconvinced by Van Gaal's ability to turn the club around and they want Jose Mourinho in charge.
Shocker right?
Except that it comes on a day with a whole host of related news about the Manchester United manager's job. Firstly, were Mourinho to join United - then it could spark the end of Ryan Giggs' association with the club after 26 years.
According to the Times, Giggs is unwilling to serve as the assistant manager at United under a third manager - and doesn't want to be the interim manager again unless there is a promise of a permanent position.
So while the Mourinho rumours intensify after Guillem Ballague reports that there has been contact between United representatives and Mourinho's; while the Portuguese manager is 'playing the field' like a bachelor claiming:
I'm not looking for a club, but there are clubs that are looking for me.
Play on playa'.
Mourinho has also been linked to the Inter Milan job, but he has claimed he's not interested in replacing under-fire boss Roberto Mancini.
