With the FAI trying to save the League of Ireland from extinction and the government in election convulsions, it's fallen upon Balls.ie to hype the lowliest of sporting finals, the Europa league final in Dublin in May. Yesterday, the British press went into Defcon-5 outrage mode when it was revealed that the cheapest seats at Wembley's Champions League final will be £150 pounds. The most expensive will be in the £300 range and there'll be an administrative fee on top of that. The match, of course, will sell out.
Ten days previous, at the IMF's 'Dublin Arena', the Europa league final will be held and with Fulham not involved, it's highly likely that two pretty decent teams will be involved (I'm doing my best to resist a Liverpool joke here). The lotto for foreign tickets - the tickets that will bring the bulk of the final's supposed €30million contribution to the economy - will start on the 21st of February. With the most expensive tickets a measly €135 and the cheapest €50, you think the press releases would be flying out of Abbotstown. It's still a lot to an ungodly amount to see a football match in person, but better value than a Spurs - Marseille final. And Ireland's all about value.
