It finished 2-2 after extra time between Liverpool and Middlesbrough in the League Cup at Anfield. Teenager Jordan Rossiter gave the home side the lead after just ten minutes. Adam Reach equalised for 'Boro 17 minutes into the second half. No more goals followed in normal time so extra time was required.

Liverpool retook the lead through Suso in the 109th minute and then a Patrick Bamford penalty in injury time sent the game to a penalty shootout.

It was no ordinary penalty shootout though, this one finished 14-13 to Liverppol, meaning it featured two of the rare pleasures of a shootout. Firstly, both keepers taking spot kicks and also some players having to take a second penalty.
