Heading into the final round of Ligue 2 matches, the race for the final promotion spot appeared to be settled. Metz led Le Havre by three points and boasted a goal difference which was superior to the tune of +6.
Metz had to lose away in Lens. And Le Havre had to win at home to Bourg-Peronnas. Not only that but they needed a seven goal swing. Metz had scored more goals.
The French Ligue 2 table before tonight's matches
With seven minutes remaining tonight, the miracle looked to be on for Bob Bradley's team. The Yanks are especially excited about tonight's exploits due to Bradley's involvement.
Metz were 1-0 down in Lens and Le Havre were making a charge for the impossible. The excitement ratcheted up to astonishing levels when Ghislain Gimbert made it 5-0 to Le Havre with seven minutes remaining.
At this stage, Le Havre needed either a second Lens goal or, more likely, another goal of their own to achieve a miraculous promotion.
Crazy scenes in Ligue 2 with Bob Bradley's Le Harve. Started final match 3 pts and 6 goals back from promotion. In 70' up 4-0, Metz down 1-0

Insanity. 10 minutes left and Le Harve score another to make it 5-0. Another for them or if Metz concede and they go up.

Le Havre need one more goal to settle an incredible six-goal swing and end a 7 year absence from the top flight. Seven minutes to do it in!

Somehow, Bourg-Peronnas found some defensive solidity in the dying moments and kept the score to 5-0.
Le Havre won 5-0, Metz lost 1-0. Le Havre hit the woodwork four times and their keeper had a header saved in injury time.

Bob Bradley's Le Havre agonizingly close to promotion. Tied on points & GD with Metz, lose out on final promotion spot on total goals scored

If Bob Bradley and Le Havre had pulled that off it would have been an all timer of a randomly amazing sports moment.
