We know the programme of fixtures for the 2018 qualifying campaign. While the draw was tamer than we might have feared, the programme is demanding with testing away fixtures in Serbia and Austria coming early on.

Ireland begin their campaign in Serbia in September 2016 and play Austria away a couple of months later. As with this campaign, they get two home games in the first half of the following year, facing Wales and Austria in Dublin.

As in Euro 2008 qualifying, they face Wales in the final match in Cardiff. Hopefully, the game will not be a meaningless dead rubber overseen by a caretaker manager.
