The FAI Really Wants To Know Your Child's Racial Disposition

24 hours is a long time in the internet world, and we're disappointed it's taken us so long to post this rather bizarre nugget from an FAI youth soccer application post that was originally posted by Shane Hegarty of the Irish Times via Twitter.

This is the section where you have to identify your child's race. You can choose from Black Irish African, Black Irish Caribbean and Black Irish Other as well 16 other racial options. Most hilariously, after one of the most thorough lists of races you'll ever find, the FAI have included an "Other - Please Specify" line so as not to offend Ireland's young hobbits and androids. Even if, as the brochure states, the categories are listed to further promote cultural inclusion in Irish youth football, it's bizarrely thorough. News also comes via Twitter that the FAI just took the UK's racial classifications and added the word Irish.
