Barnsley’s season went from bad to worse as their canine mascot Toby Tyke was seen being escorted into a police van yesterday.
Bottom of the championship with just six wins and heading back to League one, it’s been a season to forget for Barnsley. Defeat to Huddersfield confirmed their fate, while manager Poya Asbaghi left the club two days after relegation was confirmed.
While fans will be disappointed with the actions of the players, their mascot is the last person they would have suspected to let them down.

.
Out of context, it's one of the funniest videos we've seen this week. Seven police officers are on hand as the dog is escorted into a police van. The video has been viewed more than 150,000 times in the last 24 hours.
'It's not every day Toby Tyke gets locked up, but he is today,' says the video's narrator.
However it turns out Toby Tyke wasn't being arrested for crimes against mascotry, but rather this was part of a community programme called the BFC Community Game Changer Barnsley project.
How about this for ruff justice?
Officers from @BarnsleyWestNPT and @BarnsleySE_NPT had to arrest @BarnsleyFC mascot Toby Tyke today as part of promotion work for the @bfccommunity Game Changer Barnsley project.
We bet sitting in the back of the van gave him paws for thought! pic.twitter.com/u77AP5j6Lg— SYP Barnsley (@SYPBarnsley) April 28, 2022
Thankfully for Barnsley fans and those in the community, there was something to laugh about, rather then their form this season.
Toby is expected back on the sidelines as Barnsely welcome Preston North End to Oakwell tomorrow afternoon.
