The Daily Telegraph Have Made Our List Of Enemies With Their 'Worst Ever North London XI'

Today we have seen something in the UK media that we simply will not stand for.

We often look to the publications of other nations, especially when they do the 'combined team' thing, but it's usually us suggesting that Wales Online should have more Irishmen in the Ireland/Wales combined XI, or that Keith Wood has been acknowledged in an all-time Six Nations XV, but rarely do we click out of such an article filled with rage.

That happened today, and honestly, it's a disgrace.

The Daily Telegraph's 'North London Derby worst ever XI' features two Irishmen, one of which is Eddie McGoldrick and we're not publishing our outrage because of his inclusion, it's the other man we simply cannot accept this level of disrespect over.

Goalkeeper: Alan Miller (Arsenal)

Defenders: Pal Lydersen (Arsenal), Scott Marshall (Arsenal), Goran Bunjevcevic (Spurs), Paul Konchesky (Spurs).

Midfielders: Jimmy Carter (Arsenal), Jason Dozzell (Spurs), Michael Brown (Spurs), Eddie McGoldrick (Arsenal)

Strikers: Gary Doherty (Spurs), Glenn Helder (Arsenal.

Gary Doherty? The worst striker to have played for either Spurs or Arsenal?

That is an insult.

Mido, Helder Postiga, Grzegorz Rasiak, and of course Roberto Soldado have all been overlooked in order to take a shot at a man who not only was asked to play up front despite being a central defender, but also put in a shift when he did it.

Was he the most technically gifted player to play the game? No. We can concede that, but the utilisation of his man mountain as a striker is the fault of Tottenham Hotspur, and the other strikers at the club at the time, rather than Doherty.

If you are going to say a bad word about Gary Doherty, it had better be justified, because the man is an absolute hero, and we simply won't stand for the idea of him being remembered as one of the worst strikers ever to play in North London. This attack on the memory of a legend of a man is up there with English commentators calling him 'Gary Dockerty'.

Shame on you, Daily Telegraph. Shame on you.

Utility player signed by George Graham from Luton for £1m during the Scot’s popular spell as Tottenham manager. Was supposed to be a centre-half who could also operate as a centre-forward, admittedly more in the vein of Paul Warhurst than John Charles. In fact he turned out to be terrible up front, but at least there he could not make the costly mistakes at the back that eventually turned the Spurs crowd against him.

Thankfully, words can't hurt the big man.
