An intriguing story in today's Daily Mail speculates about the possibility of Alex Ferguson donning the proverbial pundits hat at next summer's World Cup. The paper reports that Sky television have already approached Ferguson to do a "post retirement" piece, a request that he turned down. A comfy seat on a terrestrial couch seems far more likely with both the BBC and ITV believed to be ready to only send their commentary teams to Brazil next summer and leave their pundits at home. Ferguson infamously fell out with the BBC during his time with Manchester United after the broadcaster filmed a documentary that was less than complementary about Ferguson's agent son Jason.
So by a process of elimination and by wildly speculating, Ferguson and Roy Keane might be on the same couch next summer debating why Trappatoni won't pick Wes Hoolahan. And we can safely say; everyone wants that to happen.
That or let Fergie drop in on the three wise men of Montrose.
