On 2 April, Balls.ie and the Science Gallery will host a special event in Trinity College but what's it all about?

Basically we're taking a look at how technology has changed sport and along with many other things, our panel will debate whether this change is for the better. We want to discuss how advances in science are changing the most played sports in the world and if individual brilliance has been replaced by calculated precision and how data has revolutionized coaching.

So who will be on our panel? For starters, it will be hosted by Off the Ball and UTV Ireland presenter and of course Co-Founder of good ship Balls.ie Ger Gilroy. We're delighted to reveal that our panelists include Simon Kuper, author of Soccernomics and journalist with the Financial Times, and Dr Tom Markham, Head of Strategic Business Development at Sports Interactive, the makers of Football Manager/Championship Manager.

The event takes place at 6pm in the Paccar Theatre at Trinity College and tickets cost just €5. There are only 200 – so make sure to get them before they sell out. You can get tickets here

The Science Gallery is a public space devoted to exploring and nurturing the interface between science and the community, as well as science and the arts. They've been open for five years and this upcoming event is part of their current exhibition, called 'Lifelogging.'

Lifelogging (Feb-April 2015) brings together scientists exploring the latest in sensor data, entrepreneurs developing the next stages in wearable technology and researchers and designers exploring the human interface of how and why we track what we do. The exhibition is curated by Linda Doyle, Director of CTVR- the Telecommunications Research Centre, Trinity College Dublin and Nicholas Felton author of The Feltron Report.
