The Arabic commentary for Saudi Arabia's winner against Argentina was quite enthusiastic.

Salem Aldawsari's fantastic strike in the 55th minute is possibly the most famous goal in the country's history and the Arabic commentary fitted the occasion.

Massive Win

Coming into the game, Saudi Arabia were massive underdogs. Many people expected Messi and Argentina to make light work of the gulf state who are ranked 51st in the world.

The game seemed to follow the script when Messi converted a penalty in the 10th minute. The South American side then pushed forward. They proceeded to put the ball in the back of the net three times, however due to the Saudi's high line, all goals were disallowed for offside.

After half time, the game flipped on its head within 6 minutes. Getting the ball back in the midfield, the Saudi Arabia midfielder sent in a high ball forward. The Argentinian defence did not deal with it and Saleh Alshehri used his pace to outrun two defenders and send the ball into the corner of the net.

Quickly afterwards, the underdogs had their second. Pushing forward, they sent a cross into the box. The ball pinged around and landed at Aldawsari's feet. The forward had a bad first touch, however he made up for it with a smart turn that beat two of Argentina's defenders. He then hit the ball magnificently into the top right corner, causing huge celebratory scenes among their fans and commentators.

The Saudis managed to hold out the Argentinian attack for the rest of the game to record a famous win. The King of the country declared tomorrow will be a National Day of Celebration after the historic result.

Biggest Upset Ever?

The result might be one of the biggest upsets in the history of international football. Argentina were many people's favourites to collect their 3rd World Cup at this year's competition. Coming into the game on a 36 - match unbeaten run and with the attacking talents of PSG's Lionel Messi and Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez, it seemed unlikely that Saudi Arabia would not suffer a hammering.

However, that was not the case as they defended resolutely to earn their biggest win in their football history.

As Peter Collins said on RTÉ, there won't be an oil well drilled in Riyadh tonight.
