In the immediate aftermath of tonight's Europa League final, Jamie Carragher tweeted:
"Jurgen, transfer committee, anyone... Sign a fucking left-back." The tweet has since been deleted.
Liverpool fell 3-1 to Sevilla in Switzerland, in many ways pulling a reverse-Istanbul with a wholly uninspired - and at times hapless - second half, particularly in defensive positions.
It was 29-year-old French striker Kevin Gameiro and the two-goal Coke (who came into the game with just one goal to his name all season) who saw off Klopp's men, denying them a place in next season's Champions League.
And though the referee quite rightly came in for some criticism for denying Liverpool at least two seemingly stonewall penalties amongst roughly 187 penalty shouts, Reds fans predominantly directed their ire towards one man from Seville whom many deemed a thorn in their side throughout the second half.
Moreno is a wonderfully awful defender

Is Moreno's first name "Given-away-by"?
— Adam Sweeney (@AdamWSweeney) May 18, 2016
Moreno's Liverpool career might be finished after this. Had an absolute shocker.

In all seriousness, Sevilla got a great deal for Alberto Moreno, £12 million, a Europa League & a place in the Champions League next season.

This Alberto Moreno performance is one of the worst individual performances I’ve seen for a very long time. Horrendous from start to finish.

This was a disappointing testimonial for Alberto Moreno before he's pushed out to sea on a raft with no food.
— James Tyler (@JamesTylerESPN) May 18, 2016
Wow, has Moreno just tried that back heel there, after having a nightmare all game
— Liam Smith (@LiamBeefySmith) May 18, 2016
It's easy when we've lost but Moreno with his pre match comments and performance tonight should never be allowed near a red shirt again

I'd actually do time if Moreno was in front of me now.

Let's not find scapegoats here. But it's Moreno's fault mainly
— Red Star Liverpool (@RedStarLvrpool) May 18, 2016
I don't care that he's young, I don't care that you'll think he'll improve. Moreno should never wear the Liverpool shirt again.

The 23-year-old was certainly at fault for Sevilla's equaliser, with Brazilian right-back Mariano waltzing past him into Liverpool's box before supplying Kevin Gameiro just five yards out. He also received from criticism after the ball ricocheted off him for Sevilla's third, but Emre Can and Philippe Coutinho certainly didn't cover themselves in glory for that goal - nor did Simon Mignolet in Liverpool's goal.
Like many Liverpool fans, Neil Lennon and Kevin Kilbane admonished the Spaniard's attitude before the second half, where he was seen conversing and laughing with a number of his former teammates. 17 seconds after the restart, he had been beaten by Mariano who squared for Gameiro.
