The Mick McCarthy managed Ipswich Town signed Manchester United youngster Ryan Tunnicliffe on loan last month. You might remember him as the player who won his father £10K by making his Man Utd first-team debut last season. Alternatively you might also remember him for being banned for driving for eighteen months for getting behind the wheel while under the influence of alcohol.
Ryan should possibly have done a little bit of research before joining Ipswich because he chose the no. 16 shirt at the club due to his desire to emulate Roy Keane. Maybe not the best idea if you're going to be working under Mick McCarthy.
I’ve taken squad number 16 because Roy Keane was my idol growing up. He was a hard-tackling midfielder which is what I like to be.
When asked what he thought about the prospect of Tunnicliffe emulating Keane, McCarthy was quick to respond.
What, on the pitch or off it?! I don’t care what number he wears to be honest, he’s just a good player.
