The largely meaningless, but still interesting to look at, FIFA World Rankings have been updated and there's some splendid news for Ireland.
Would you look at this carry on. No longer are we forced to eat at the loser table outside the top 50 in the world. Once again we can go on holidays and cover our pasty skin with the green jersey and do it with pride. Up twelve places to 42nd in the world and what's more, we're even ahead of Scotland now.
Shout it with pride people, we have once again approached something like mid-table mediocrity and it's that win over Germany that we have to thank for it all. Imagine the heady heights we could have hit had we not been so crap against Poland.
Meanwhile, Northern Ireland are laughing at us having moved six places up to 29th, while Wales have dropped a massive 7 down to a quite frankly unthinkable 15th. As had been expected, Belgium are up to first for the first time in their history. Fecking show offs.
