Ted Lasso fans were forced to defend their beloved Apple TV series, after a scene from the latest season was roundly and rightfully ripped apart on Twitter.
The scene in question features members of AFC Richmond in the dressing room discussing the wrongs of sharing private pictures of women.
While it is obviously an important message, the execution and writing of the scene comes as across as contrived, fake, and incredibly cringe worthy.
The dialogue is completely on the nose and not reflective in any was of how footballers would talk to each other.
People who had not watched the show were in disbelief that such an award show and critical darling could churn out something so poor, and compared the scene to a poorly written high school 'guidance counsellor message' video.
Ted Lasso Scene Gets Ripped Apart On Twitter
This scene is such a great example of what I mean when I say that themes should be explored through plot, not explicitly stated out loud by characters like a public service announcement https://t.co/1f9zaLtwa9

In other Ted Lasso related news, the actor Nick Mohammed, who plays the traitorous Nathan Shelley, has admitted that filming the final season, away from the main gang of AFC Richmond actors, has been lonely for him
"He's out in the desert at the moment, isn't he?
"Sadly, he has chosen to leave Richmond in the way that he did, and he is absolutely out on a limb, he's a fish out of water. From a practical point of view, some of that stuff was quite lonely to film, because obviously I'm not [shooting] with the gang.
"We try to use as much of that feeling of loneliness and abandonment and channel it into Nate, because that is precisely what he's feeling."
