Poor Phillip Hofmann will not want to see the replay of this miss. Watch how the 1 FC Kaiserslautern forward somehow manages to sky the ball over the bar less than two metres out from an open goal under absolutely no pressure. In the striker's defence, the ball did take a bit of a bobble off the turf before it reached him.
The horrific miss is reminiscent of David Luiz's wonder-clearance against Spain in the Confederations Cup. Although, one would think the Sideshow Bob lookalike would have felt slightly better about lofting the ball over the crossbar than Hofmann.
