In arguably the shock of the third round of the FA Cup, League two side Stevenage have knocked out Aston Villa in dramatic fashion.

When the draw for the third round was made, not many people expected an potential upset on the cards when this tie was announced.

WHile Aston Villa may not be having their best season, they have improved since the appointment of Unai Emery, who is known for a cup run across his career.

After naming a strong side, it looked like that was once again on the Spaniards agenda, with Aston Villa taking the lead through Morgan Sanson in the 38th minute, who finished off a brilliant passing move to put them ahead.

Stevenage however, who are challenging for promotion to League two, had different ideas.

Stevenage Cause Huge Aston Villa Shock

Aston Villa looked comfortable throughout the game,  with majority of the possession, and more than enough chances to seal the game.

Stevenage done well to keep the game at 1-0 and were rewarded a lifeline in the 88th minute, with Jamie Reid slotting it in the bottom corner to spark mad celebrations.

Most sides in that position would have parked the bus, and be excited of the prospect of a Premier League side visiting their home ground in 10 days time for a replay.

With their tails up and dreaming of an upset, Stevenage took full advantage of a shocked Villa side. Emery's side fell asleep at a corner, with Stevenage taking it short to Dean Campbell, who beat Robin Olsen at his near post.

The Stevenage bench came running onto the pitch in complete shock and happiness, while Aston Villa couldn't believe what has just happened.

Stevenage could be in for a glamour tie against one of the top four sides in the Premier League, with both Manchester clubs, Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool all a possibility.
