Steven Gerrard Stars In The Worst Movie Poster Ever

Liverpool are getting ready to embark on a US tour this summer and just look how excited Steven Gerrard is about it. Usually these tours are decent money spinners that clubs need to keep the money rolling in over the lean summer months. Players would rather be somewhere else but they smile and get on with it nonetheless.

Well it seems Liverpool are working off a different script this year. Yes it's Liverpool go to America, the shit 80s movie version and apparently Steven Gerrard is playing some kind of world weary immigrant who's just hoped off the boat at Ellis Island with nothing but the kit on his back.

It's just baffling, we're not sure if this is supposed to be some kind of satire that is going over our heads or if the tour's promotional people were doing it to piss Gerrard off even more after his less than stellar World Cup showing.

The poster is a 'unique' take on the 1988 Eddie Murphy comedy 'Coming To America' which saw Murphy star as an African prince who comes to America to gain a little independence. Yes, apparently someone could see the connection between a jaunty John Landis film and a money spinning football tour. And no this poster is not a joke, it's from Liverpool's official Facebook page.
