In what appeared an unlikely link earlier in the week, reports are now emerging that the Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is set to take over Rangers.

Gerrard's first step into top-level management, he will reportedly bring former teammate Gary McAllister with him as his assistant manager.

Stepping into a league where his former manager Brendan Rodgers is currently enjoying tremendous domestic success with Rangers' bitter rivals Celtic, it is understood that the club directors believe Gerrard is the man to turn things around.
