For the majority of his time at Anfield, Steven Gerrard was the face of Liverpool FC. As such, he was asked to appear in some adverts for their sponsors - some of which he did, some that he turned down.
But there's one lucrative ad deal that he did turn down, and he has absolutely no regrets about - especially after seeing the final product. The ad in question is for Nivea, and after Gerrard turned Liverpool down, Jordan Henderson was the player chosen to replace him.
I turned it down. Jordan Henderson stepped in and when I saw the ad on television I was relieved. Doing those kind of ads just isn’t me. I’ve had tons of offers to advertise products bare-chested and I’ve always said no.
While Gerrard has taken his shirt off several times on the pitch, being run repeatedly on tv is a step too far for him. Good luck to Henderson, stepping in for Stevie G in more ways than one.
