Fox Sports Apologise Over Story About Steven Gerrard's LA Galaxy Exit

On Saturday afternoon, Steven Gerrard posted to Instagram describing living in LA and playing for Galaxy as a 'privilege'.

It was interpreted by many as a farewell message from Gerrard to LA Galaxy supporters.

Living in Los Angeles and playing for the great Galaxy supporters has been a privilege. You have made this place feel like home to me. This city and this club will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you #8

Gerrard may well leave Galaxy at the end of this season. He made the move to MLS at the end of the 2014/15 Premier League campaign, signing an 18-month contract with Galaxy. That deal finishes at the conclusion of this season.

However, it appears that Instagram message was not intended as a goodbye to the fans. Fox Soccer, one of the many to read a little bit too far into the post have apologised and removed the story from their website. They say that the Instagram post was part of the club's Fan Appreciation Night.

Galaxy play their final game of the MLS regular season on Sunday against Dallas and then play in the West Conference knockout round next week. Gerrard's last appearance for the club was earlier this month against Dallas. Since injuring his hamstring in August, he's made just two appearances.
