On Sunday evening, some spurious rumours that Celtic were interested in signing Southampton midfielder Steven Davis began to spread online.
The source would appear to have been a days old tweet by a Twitter account titled 'Celtic Sources' which slowly circulated among Celtic fans over the weekend.
It did not take Davis long to get wind of the story. Davis spent four years with Rangers between 2008 and 2012 - winning three league titles. He left the club when it became insolvent in 2012.
He quickly laughed off the rumours, including a clip of Jim Carrey from the film Me, Myself and Irene titled 'I haven't laughed like that in a long time' in his tweet.

It was at this point that Shane Long got involved as he let his Southampton teammate know where his Scottish football allegiances lie.
