Thanks to Jim Warren, we were directed towards China.org.cn this morning. We regret to say that rare is the morning we are directed towards the prime news organ of the Chinese government. In truth, we should be scanning its contents every morning. We will seek to rectify this systems problem going forward.
Jim's interest was understandably peaked by a picture of a viaduct which the Chinese news agency identified as the 'Steve Finnan viaduct'.
This seemed like a sensational discovery.
There is a viaduct somewhere in the world named after Steve Finnan! What a fitting tribute to the player. This would have made Steve Finnan the first Irish defender to have a viaduct named after him.
But then we noted the caption, which informed us that the picture was of the 'Steve finnan viaduct where 'Harry Potter' was filmed'. Harry Potter was filmed in Scotland, and the picture did closely resemble the Scottish highlands.
And weaving through the Scottish West Highlands within sight of Loch Shiel is the 'Glenfinnan Viaduct' constructed at the turn of the twentieth century. Ah, well. It appears the mystery of the Steve Finnan viaduct is solved.
