Some of the West Brom fan brigade have shown a ruthlessness worse than the most oppressive political regimes in history as they gave out stink about Shane Long and his teammates flying off to Dublin for a few pints and a few tunes.

The fans were upset that the team's Christmas party wasn't cancelled after a run of three defeats in the space of a week. However manager Steve Clarke defended the players, saying that the break away has done them good.

He was specifically asked about Shane Long and Boaz Myhill busking in Temple Bar, and Clarke said 'Shane’s good on the guitar. As well as being a very talented footballer he is a very talented musician as well.'

'It was good, I don’t have a big issue. You get a lot of bad headlines surrounding football, but I don’t think that was a bad headline at all.'

You said it Steve. Let the boy sing!
