The story continues...

The midfielder told boss Steve Staunton his grandmother had died. When it emerged she hadn’t, he claimed he’d meant his other granny – who was also still alive.

Then he said it was actually a grand- father who had died. He was later forced to admit Jess had suffered a miscarriage.

Jess said: “Stephen wanted to be there to support me. He regrets it now. He was young and made a huge mistake. I want him to be remembered for good football.”

Stephen, 26, who previously played for Manchester City, hasn’t played for Ireland since – and some blame Jess.

She said: “I have nothing to do with whether Stephen plays good or bad. It hurts me to hear that. Football is what provides us with this life. I want him to play for Ireland again. If I keep pushing enough it might happen.

“Football is such a short-lived career, I want him to be the best.”

If she keeps pushing, it might happen.. she could be talking about many things here, but lets face it, he ain't going to Euro 2012, but what should he do to pass his free time.. let us know here
