Irish international Stephen Hunt has joined League One's Coventry City.
Hunt had been unattached since leaving Ipswich Town last summer, and has now penned a short-term contract with the Sky Blues.
Hunt told the Coventry website:
I believe I should be playing in the Championship but I said to myself that if I was going to drop down, I'd want to come to a club on the top and at the top end of the league.Of course, I like to earn a longer-term deal which will keep me here until the end of the season as there is a great group of players here who can achieve something this season.
Hunt is the third former Premier League player signed by Coventry in the last week, along with Peter Ramage and Joe Cole. Hunt is already familiar with one member of the dressing room, former Irish youth international Jim O'Brien:
I know one member of the squad because Jim O'Brien once gate-crashed my wedding. He came with my brother but he wasn't invited. He just turned up but ended up stealing the show really, singing on stage, dancing and getting on with the whole family.
