While not winning the Puskas award, Stephanie Roche has had praise heaped on her from some of the worlds' biggest names as reported by the Irish Examiner. The great and the good of World Football, as well as Sepp Blatter, attended the awards, and it was Italian World Cup Winner Alessandro Del Piero who declared Roche the moral winner.
She is the moral winner of the award.
She is great.. She needs to make another one for next year. That is what I would say to her.
Del Piero wasn't the only star name to praise the star, with eventual winner and Real Madrid Galactico James Rodriguez suggesting her goal was as good as his own.
It was a golazo!
A golazo as well, a really great goal! The pity is only one can win.
While she undoubtedly would have prefered to win the award, finishing runner up in such a prestigious award, coupled with the praise given by the sports biggest stars, isn't a bad return for a goal scored in front of 95 people in Wexford.
