Good news for Ireland's highest profile female soccer player, as Stephanie Roche has found a new club following her release from American side Houston Dash.
Roche expressed her disappointment at the end of her short stint in America, but she has now put all that behind her as she today signed with Sunderland, in the WSL 1, England's top female football league.
Steph expressed her delight at making the move to Wearside, where she will face the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool next season:
It’s great to be at Sunderland Ladies and I can’t wait to get started.
I know there is a high standard in WSL 1 and it’s something I’m looking forward to being a part of. The team have done really well this season and hopefully I can play my part too.
The WSL is currently in their mid-season break, so Roche will have to wait a while before she can pull on the red and white stripes for her debut, but hopefully she can hit the ground running.
Best of luck to Stephanie, and hopefully we see plenty of highlights next season.
