ASPTT Albi manager David Welferinger has confirmed that Stephanie Roche is set to leave the French side after 6 months with the club. Welferinger told local newspaper Le Tarn Libre that the departure is a result of the increased interest in the Irish striker stemming from her nomination for the Puskas Award.

This departure is linked with what is happening right now. She has been in high demand in recent weeks.

The newspaper is quoting Roche as saying "homesick and the difficulties in adapting due to the language barrier" are also part of the reasons why she is leaving the club.

However, Welferinger's comments certainly seem to suggest that Roche could be moving up in the world, both in terms of playing level as well as the €800 basic monthly wage she earns with Albi.

I understand her choice even if it's sad. She was progressing well since the beginning of the season. This also shows the girls that Albi is a club that can be used as a springboard.

Keep voting for Stephanie here.
