Stefan Kiessling lept to meet a corner for Bayer Leverkusen in the second half of their match with Hoffenheim earlier tonight before diverting his header just wide of the post. The ball clipped the side netting and bizarrely managed to creep into the goal through the netting. Kiessling turned away in apparent disgust at missing the chance but referee Felix Brych amazingly awarded the goal.
The "goal" gave Bayer a 2-0 lead and meant Hoffenheim's late strike was a mere consolation.
A mistake of this magnitude sent a team to the top of one of the biggest football leagues in the world. Absolutely stunning.
